      I.The computer facilities for patron are defined as the following:
        A. Computers especially set up for patrons for the purpose of information retrieval;
        B. Video On Demand (VOD) systems located in Multimedia Room on the Eighth Floor at the Main Library; and
        C. Computers in e-Learning Centers at the Main Library and four District Branch Libraries (Sanmin, Wenshan, Wanhua and Tianmu branches).
      II. Descriptions
        A. Computers for information retrieval
          1. Except the computers especially set up for library collection searches, patrons must register at the service desks prior to computer use.
          2. The computers especially set up for library collection searches are solely provided for the purpose of utilizing the various Internet services on the Taipei Public Library online portal. Connecting to other Internet sites or using the facilities for any other purposes is prohibited.
          3. Registration or reservation for machine use requires presentation of a Library Card of one’s own. If the Library Card has not been issued previously, one shall present a valid identification for registration (for example, ROC Citizen ID, passport, Entry/Exit Permit, or Alien Resident Certificate).
          4. Registration for computer use will be out of service 30 minutes prior to the Library’s closing time. Also, the time limit for each session of use is 30 minutes.
          5. Each computer is available for a single patron reservation for one session only, in case all computers are occupied. Registering for continual use of a single machine is permitted at five minutes prior to registered session end time.
          6. Registration will be automatically cancelled if the user leaves for over five minutes or fails to arrive within five minutes after the registered session begins.
          7. If necessary, please bring one’s own data storage devices. Also, printing of materials is available under the stipulations of the Statements of Printing and Photocopying Materials of the Taipei Public Library.
          8. There is a Priority Seat for the handicapped. But only can use once per day.
        B. VOD systems
          1. Opening hours:
             Tuesday to Saturday: 08:30 – 20:30
             Sundays and Mondays: 09:00 – 16:30
          2. Prior to machine use, patrons must present a Library Card of one’s own for registering at the Information Counter in the Multimedia Room on the Eighth Floor at the Main Library.
          3. Patrons under six years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
          4. There is a two-hour limit for each session of viewing VOD materials. Registration for continual use is necessary upon exceeding registered session end time.
        C. Computers at the e-Learning Centers
          1. Opening hours:
            a. Main Library
              Tuesday to Saturday: 08:30 – 21:00
              Sundays and Mondays: 09:00 – 17:00
            b. District Branch Libraries (Sanmin, Wenshan, Wanhua and Tianmu branches)
              Tuesday to Saturday: 13:00 – 20:30
              Sundays and Mondays: 09:00 – 16:30
          2. There is a 30-minute limit for each session of machine use per person. The time limit for machine use at the abovementioned District Branch Libraries is one hour.
          3. Patrons must register at the service desks prior to machine use.
          4. Registration or reservation for machine use requires presentation of a Library Card of one’s own. If the Library Card has not been issued previously, one shall present a valid identification for registration (ROC Citizen ID, passport, Entry/Exit Permit, or Alien Resident Certificate).

      III. Caution
        A. Please remain quiet, obey to the regulations as stipulated by the Library, and refrain from disturbing others during machine use.
        B. If one should encounter any technical problem regarding software or hardware use, please contact our librarians. Do not attempt to fix the problem on one’s own; otherwise the patron is subject to compensation for any consequent damages.
        C. Installing and executing programs of one’s own on all Library computers is prohibited.
        D. Playing computer games on Library computers is prohibited.
        E. Browsing Web sites with contents related to pornography, violence, gambling, encouragement of weapon use and crime involvement, or any Web site with unlawful contents or information detrimental to social security and ethics is strictly prohibited.
        F. It is strictly prohibited to use the computers at the Library for the broadcast of information on unlawful activities or any other activities that are detrimental to social security and ethics.
        G. Users of the Library computer facilities must abide by the copyright law and relevant regulations stipulated by the government. Patrons are subject to legal responsibilities for offenses against the copyright law.
        H. Right of use will be immediately deprived if the patron neglects advices upon the abovementioned stipulations. If said occurrence exceeds two occasions in one day, rights to facility use registration are discontinued for the day; if exceeding three occasions in one week, rights are deprived for the month.
        I. Using computer in Information Retrieval Area, e-Learning Center, or specific areas inside the library, the reader can conduct information transfer with cell phone. Readers who wanna charge the battery of cell phone should to Cell Phone Area.
        J. Please refer to the relevant stipulations of the Taipei Public Library for all other specifications of caution.

IV. These regulations shall become effective upon approval by the Department of Education, Taipei City Government. The same also applies to amendments.
